I recently took a trip with my cousins to Portoviejo. It is a beautiful city located in Ecuador. It is also known as the city of Royal Tamarind trees. We reached there in the early morning and stayed at La Piedra hotel. It has airy rooms with a casual restaurant and outdoor pool.
After relaxing for some time, we went to explore the city. We first went to Jardin Botanico. As the name suggests, it is a botanical garden with a tranquil atmosphere. The entrance is free there but one needs to carry an Id proof along. Then we went to Bonanza Hosteria y Restaurante where we sampled a few brews. The owner himself is a German Brewer, Juaquin. We had a typical lunch – sausage platter and shrimp. We were served with two slices of pork, a small slice of smoked ham and a sausage link. After that, we went to Complejo Arqueologico Hojas Jaboncillo. It is an archaeological site with a museum preserving the wonderful history of Ecuador. It opens at 8 AM and the entry there is free. We spent our evening at La Rotonda Park which is in front of the Technical University of Manabi. It is open 24/7.
At night, we went to La Tasca for dinner. It is an excellent place for dinner and even has open mic events being conducted. It was a pleasant atmosphere. We had meat dipped in the chocolate sauce which was quite delicious.
The next morning we went to Cascada Julian. It has a breathtaking view of the waterfall. From there, we went to Cafeteria Jean Pierre where we sat on a patio and sipped some coffee and had pastries. They even have authentic dishes with exquisite flavors. After spending some time at Portoviejo Nace De Ti, we left for our homes. We had a great trip.
